Previously a solicitor for 26 years, Andrew practised as an advocate dealing principally with criminal law, family law and mental health tribunal cases. During the past 10 years he has specialised in family law, he was one of the first members of the law society children panel and gained higher rights of audience in civil proceedings in 2003.

Andrew has now for many years specialised almost exclusively in public law proceedings acting for parents, children, other relatives and foster carers. He was a member of a small panel of solicitors approved to represent prospective adopters on behalf of the local authority. He also has extensive experience in private law contact and residence disputes, particularly in the more complex cases resulting in 9.5 appointments.
