Deborah Gould

Deborah Gould is exclusively a criminal practitioner dealing with all aspects of criminal law in the criminal courts at all levels. She regularly represents both prosecution and defence in serious offences ranging from murder and sexual offences to drug offences (supply and importation), fraud (including DSS fraud), serious offences of violence and dishonesty. She has particular interest in the law relating to young offenders and cases involving defendants and/or witnesses with any form of disability, but particularly those with learning difficulties or mental health issues, and has been involved in a series of like cases.

She has lectured on the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 (in particular the vulnerable witness provisions), issues relating to a Defendant's fitness to plead and stand trial and participated in national programmes in relation to these topics. She has lectured on immigration offences (Merseyside Police) and on the CJA 2003. In addition to this she has also been involved in the training of volunteers working for the Witness Support Service.
