Leona exclusively practises in the field of Family Law, appearing at all levels including the House of Lords.

She undertakes substantial Public and Private Law cases on behalf of Local Authorities, Guardians, Parents, Relatives and the Official Solicitor.

She is regularly instructed in complex, multi-party cases involving allegations of sexual, physical and emotional abuse within public law, adoption; abduction; emergency interim proceedings; residence and contact cases. She has expertise in cases involving removal of children from the jurisdiction and concerning children and parties from abroad.

Whilst her aim is always to ensure that her clients have had their case firmly and skilfully argued, she has also undertaking specialist mediation training, to qualify as a Mediator, such additional skills being particularly useful within the field of Family Law.

She is a Committee member of the FLBA and Merseyside Medico-Legal Society acting as Treasurer for the each Liverpool branch. She is also a member of Child Concern.

Recent reported cases include:

  • Re R (IVF): Paternity of a Child) [2005] UKHL 33, [2005] 2 FLR 843
    A case involving issues of paternity, parental status and contact and complex medical and psychological evidence and extensive legal analysis and interpretation.
