Zia Chaudhry

Zia Chaudhry is predominantly a criminal practitioner dealing with all aspects of criminal cases in the criminal courts at all levels including serious offences of murder/manslaughter, drug offences, robbery, crimes of violence, rape and other sexual offences. Mr Chaudhry has also received instructions on behalf of HM Revenue and Customs as well as representing defendants charged with such offences, including offences of serious fraud.

Mr Chaudhry also has a busy life away from the Bar. From 2005 to 2008 he was the Chair of the Merseyside Council of Faiths and in 2007 founded the Spirit of Cordoba with the support of HRH Prince of Wales. His active interest in Islamic matters has led him to addressing diverse audiences around the country on such topics and has also resulted in him writing on subjects such as Shariah law. In December 2008 he was invited to and attended, as a participant in a seminar on Islam and Democracy in the European Parliament.

Zia Chaudhry is fluent in Punjabi and has a working knowledge of Urdu.
